It’s hard to find a bad meal in Portugal. We stumbled onto a great seafood place at Rua dos Sapateiros 230 in Lisbon. We kept going back. Wonderful grilled white fish that slid off the bones, and unlabeled vino verde from so far north it might as well have been in Galicia. Choriz in Cascais, and prawns and ginja and beer at Ramiro back in Lisbon.

Food in Lisbon was fresh and beautifully cooked–I enjoyed codfish cakes at various places as well as shrimp and an array of other delicious seafood appetizers; also ham (carved in front of you) and cheeses to savor. Dining with friends and family — my own and others’ — in Lisbon was a delight. I will return!
