Death of a Program?

At the Department of State and USAID, Fellows infuse scientific and technical expertise into myriad aspects of diplomacy and international development, from policy development and program planning, to implementation and evaluation.”

I was an AAAS Diplomacy Fellow in the State Department in 1986-1987. I worked the Soviet and East European desk for science and technology as Gorbachev came to power, and the Berlin Wall was beginning to crumble. It was one of the great experiences of my life. Now I fear trump (small man, small t) is going to kill that amazing 52-year-old program. He doesn’t need, like, or understand science, so why would he permit any non-MAGA scientists at State or in the remains of USAID?
