Every night in Iceland back in 2021, I stepped outside to check for the aurora borealis. No luck. Nothing but clouds or snow or maybe too little solar activity. But last night, on Narragansett Beach in RI, the aurora finally showed itself. The “space weather” forecast had reported a large mass of ejecta from the sun a couple of days ago. It finally arrived in the form of a colorful sky over southern New England. To the naked eye, it wasn’t that impressive. But my camera has a better “eye” than I do and this is what it saw.
